The accreditation of this program is until 2025 .
The education is performed by Faculty of Philology.
English Philology is a Bachelor's program where the
students obtain professional qualifications allowing them to work
in all areas where philological knowledge is required:
teachers of English in the secondary school, research
fellows in scientific institutions, journalists in the press and
the electronic mass media, translators in the business sphere and
the state administration, translators and editors in
publishing houses. They can also take various job positions in
libraries, archives and museums.
The BA Degree program involves a four-year training that
includes acquisition of theoretical knowledge and practical skills
in the areas of the historical and present state of the English
language and literature and American literature.
After obtaining a BA Degree the students can continue their
studies in the English Philology Master's program. The one-year
training in the MA program is oriented to areas of special
scientific interest in English language and literature.
In accordance with the University Training
Regulations the students of the program may undertake another
major within the University if they have successfully completed the
first year of their studies and have passed an admission test.
The obtaining of a BA Diploma requires a passing grade at a
state examination in English language and literature consisting of
a written and an oral part or a public defense of a BA
diploma thesis.
During the four-year period the students are allowed to take an
additional training in language teaching and after passing a
practical state exam at school they can receive the
pedagogical professional qualification of "Teacher of English".
