Annotation

The Culture and Media degree course aims to equip students with sound knowledge and understanding of the main developmental trends and character of the resent day culture and its relationship with the means of mass communication. During the first semestres students will study Theory of Culture, History of World Culture and Contemporary Cultural Processes. All of this will form a solid foundation for further study. Following that, the studies will be focused on the specifics of television and radio communication, print media and advertising in all types of media. Students will learn how to prepare materials for the different types of media, explore their creativity and learn organisational skills.

Students will be able to discuss the fundamental changes that the Internet and mobile phones brought to the development of culture, and gain insight into how best to present cultural values, products and practices through the media.

On finishing the Culture and Media course, students will be professionally prepared to gain employment in national and regional cultural institutions, as well as in the media such as television, radio, print media, Internet agencies, PR agencies and the adverising industry, NGOs, dealing with culture and the media, etc. They could also seek professional realisation as art critics, reporters, editors, etc.
