Annotation

The Old History includes the genesis, development, zenith and decline of the most ancient human civilizations which date back to the IV- III millennium B.C. up to the middle of the I millennium A.D. in North East Africa and Asia, the South East and the  Southern parts of Europe. This includes mainly Egypt, Mesopotamia, Levanta and Minor Asia, Ancient India and Ancient China known as the Ancient East. The civilizations from the South East and the Southern parts of Europe include mainly Ancient Hellas, Ancient Thrace and Ancient Rome

An important reason for the PhD training is related to the Prehistory and the above mentioned three ancient civilizations because the sources are here, on the territory of Bulgaria. Another reason is the European level of the Bulgarian tradition in the scientific research and education of these scientific problems. That is important for Bulgarians because the Prehistory and the History of Ancient Thrace and the Thracians is the native history of the Bulgarians.

The process of education for the PhD students can be carried on according to the contemporary achievements of this major which are presented in Bulgaria through well-developed European prehistory and especially through the major place, significance and role of the Bulgarian Thraceology or generally speaking the fundamentals of the antique studies made during the last decade of the 20th c. and the beginning of the 21st c. This can be successfully done by giving lectures, specialized seminars, terrain expeditions, and individual working methods, specific for each PhD candidate.
