Modern History
The purpose of this PhD training in General Modern History is to
learn and understand the history of the world in its completeness
from the end of the 15th c. to the end of World War I.
During this period one can actually talk about the world history.
The main characteristic feature of this period is the transition
into a modern society. The world economics which finishes with the
industrialization was created at that time.
Contemporary History
The PhD program in General Contemporary History allows the study
and exploration of the general tendencies and regulations in the
development of the 20th century civilization. The period
between the two world wars is a period for political and social
development of the leading countries - the U.S.A., Great Britain,
France, Germany, and Russia. The period after the end of World War
II was characterized by the bipolar division of the world and the
opposition East-West.
Balkan History
The purpose of the PhD program in History of the Balkans is
rather to lead them into the time and space than to acquaint them
only with the early Enlightenment historiography tradition which
means pursuing the objective historic truth which does not give way
to politics and emotions. In this sense, it is not only important
to explore this cultural function of history but also to provide
more historic resources for the European identity and its regional
characteristic features.
