The Ph.D. program in Historiography acquaints PhD students with the latest trends in historiography, new European and world schools and trends from the past 20 years. It aims at the PhD students acquiring knowledge about the meaning of the very term "historiography"; the development of history as a discipline of research, its subject, methods of research, a spring base, research approaches, a change in the understanding of the historical source, techniques of historical description, etc.

Questions such as the position of the historian are being discussed; the nature of the social construction of reality; the nature of the historical explanation; interpretation; historical imagination; the interrelationship between the form and the content of the historical work; the relativism of historical knowledge. Particular attention is paid to the influence of poststructuralist thought on the various branches of historical discipline.
