Annotation

The PhD program in Economics and Management of Tourism, professional field 3.9 Tourism, has the major objective to prepare highly qualified cadre who will contribute to the further development of science and practice in the field of economics and tourism management through their knowledge and research skills. The program provides extension of the fundamental theoretical and professional training and dissertation development on significant topic in accordance with the high-level requirements of the contemporary economic development and the need of immediate link between the scientific theory and the particular business practice.

The PhD training has the following goals:

1. Providing fundamental and special knowledge in the field of the general economic theory as well as the management of the national economy branches including the tourism industry.

2. Ensuring a high qualification of the PhD candidates for solving scientific and practical problems as well as problems of the economic practice through scientific approaches and methods.

3. Developing individual creative thinking and expertise for conducting scientific research, elaboration and proving of scientific theses, formulation and completion of research tasks and development of new scientific concepts.

4. Preparation of highly-qualified cadre needed for the research and education sphere.

The PhD candidates are expected to:

1. Learn the research methods and their application in the light of the particular scientific and practical problem.

2.Acquire skills referring to the use of scientific terms.

3.Build expertise on how to seek, identify and analyze scientific and practical problems.

4. Learn how to apply scientific approaches and use scientific tools in the research work.

5. Become competent in the teaching economic subjects methodology.

6. Develop special skills for working with different information sources as well as computer and foreign language skills directed to information supply and professional contacts with scholar from abroad.

The PhD graduates in Economics and Management of Tourism can develop professionally as researchers in scientific centers and units, lecturers in Higher Education Institutions, experts in the public administration institutions and the administration of the European Union, consultants and experts in international, non-governmental and branch organizations in the field of tourism as well as managers and experts in diagnostic, prognostic, management and research centers and institutions.

The fundamental training enables successful PhD graduates to be competitive on the labour market especially where wider than Bachelor and Master degree training is required.
